The port of Siem Reap is an excellent stop off point for an interesting shore excursion for passengers on a cruise of South East Asia.
Access to the port is dependent on the tides – during high water cruise passengers can disembark at the port itself, but in low water will be dropped off at Prek Dom on the Tonie Sap River for onward transfer into Siem Reap, a journey of around two hours.
On a day’s shore excursion visitors can travel to Cambodia’s famous temple – Angkor Wat, as well as the lesser known but still impressive Rolous Temples – all within close proximity to Siem Reap.
Passengers can also climb to the top of Phnom Bakheng and enjoy the spectacular views over Angkor, especially beautiful at sunset. Passengers can tour these sites in the morning or afternoon with plenty of time left for lunch in Siem Reap, before returning to the ship.
