Cruise liners dock at Pier 35 San Fancisco bay at Embarcadero, the bustling waterfront area of the city. Fisherman’s Wharf is nearby, which is the epicentre of the Californian fishing industry and passengers can get a good view of Golden Gate Bridge across the bay from here.
Most of the main attractions are located within walking distance of the port. Hyde Street Pier is home to the National Maritime Museum where passengers can go on board historic vessels including the Balclutha or the paddlewheel tug Eppleton Hall.
Pier 39 is a short walk from the port with comprehensive shopping facilities and restaurants. Cruisers can also make the journey to Alcatraz from Pier 41. No trip to San Francisco would be complete without taking a trip on the cable car which takes passengers up the hilliest streets in the USA.
