Owned and operated by Princess Cruises, the MS Royal Princess was launched in 2001 as MS R Eight by Renaissance Cruises. Swan Hellenic sailed its from 2003 and 2007 as MS Minerva II and then it was assigned to Princess Cruises. Sister ship to both Ocean Princess and Pacific Princess, it has a crew of 373, a passenger capacity of 710 over 10 decks.
In December of 2009, Princess Cruises announced that in May 2011 the Royal Princess will leave the fleet to join P&O Cruises and will be renamed Adonia.
