The port of Nassau is situated on the small Island of Providence and is a popular disembarkation point for cruise passengers on a trip to the Bahamas. Cruise ships dock at the north side of the island and the city of Nassau is just a ten minute walk away from the harbour.
Nassau itself is easy to explore on foot and visitors can either opt for a guided tour or head for Bay Street – renowned for its shopping facilities. Nassau features many old colonial sites, such as Fort Fincastle and Fort Charlotte.
The Queen’s Staircase and Ardastra Gardens are also popular attractions. Many water based activities are on offer to passengers on a day excursion, including boat trips, snorkelling, diving, and swimming with dolphins – or even an underwater tour via submarine. Cruise passengers can also purchase a day pass to Paradise Island which features the gigantic Atlantis Resort.
