Cruise ships dock at Miami Port which is around five minutes’ walk from downtown Miami, highly convenient for passengers wishing to pay a visit to the area on a shore excursion. Miami is a sprawling city so unless passengers wish to stay port-side or shop at the nearby Bayside shopping centre, cars or taxis must be hired, unless an organized tour of the area is undertaken.
Miami’s South Beach is a ‘must see’ attraction with its famous Art Deco style waterfront buildings, elegant designer boutiques and restaurants. Kay Biscayne is the island connected to Miami by bridges – and is a perfect trip out for passengers who like to get close to nature.
The Miami Seaquarium and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Recreation Area are also highly recommended a visit. Other swanky places to visit include Coral Gables and Coconut Grove and shoppers should head for Bal Harbour for up market boutiques and designer stores.
