Cruise passengers alighting from their ship for a shore excursion will be pleased to find downtown Malaga on their doorstep, with everything within an easy walking distance. For shopping, passengers need only cross the street and turn left to find Malaga’s excellent range of designer boutiques, department stores and market traders.

Leather goods are highly rated as a purchase, as well as jewellery and silver. Playa del la Malagueta beach, which is just right out of the port entrance is a popular attraction and there are many good restaurants situated here. Passengers may also wish to visit Gibralfaro Castle which entails a climb, but which also features a museum, and offers spectacular views from the top. The Alcazaba, close to the centre is an archaeological museum and botanical gardens – also recommended if there is time. Day trips from Malaga include Alhambra, ancient Moorish palace, and Granada (which is two hours journey).
