Cruise passengers dock at the Santa Catarina terminal which has numerous facilities including banks, and a taxi rank. Opposite the port the El Muelle shopping mall is worth a wander around with a range of local goods on offer as well as international stores.
The city centre is just a short walk from the port entrance and passengers should head for Plaza Santa Ana. Visitors are only a stroll from Playa de las Cantera beach, popular with locals as well as tourists, and good water sports activities can be found at Puerto Rico beach.
Cruise passengers on an organised tour are sure to see the Bandama volcanic crater and the charming hill villages of Teror and Arucas, and tours tend to take around 3 or 4 hours. There is also the option to take a Submarine Dive Tour to Puerto Mogon, which is just up the coast.
