The Port of Kingston is the main port of Jamaica and is located to southeast of the island. Cruise passengers disembarking here benefit from the adjacent peninsular which features a tourist resort.
Cruisers have many points of interest in the nearby area including the Bob Marley Museum, home to a wealth of memorabilia, as well as Devon House, built in 1881 by George Stiebel, the Caribbean’s first black millionaire. It is now a museum dedicated to African artifacts, as well as home to a restaurant serving authentic Jamaican cuisine, plus a craft shop.
The Hope Botanical Gardens and the Hope Zoo are well worth visiting on a Jamaican cruise shore excursion too, as well as The Institute of Jamaica – the country’s oldest museum. Visitors also have the opportunity of snorkeling, sun bathing and swimming at close by Lime Cay – a small island just south of the Port of Kingston.
