The port of Ketchikan is located in South East Alaska, about 380 kilometres from the capital city of Juneau. From this port passengers on an Alaskan cruise can alight to visit the famous Misty Fjords National Monument which is located 35 kilometres to the east of the port.
The monument covers close to 600 million hectares of land, most of which is a wilderness, and visitors can access this spectacular site by taking a boat trip along the Brehm Canal or book a floatplane to view its magnificent fjords and towering sea cliffs.
Other local attractions include the Tongass Historical Museum and the Ketchikan Totem Heritage Centre – which is home to many 19th century totem poles.
The Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary just south of Ketchiken offers passengers the opportunity of forest and coastal walks as well as trails at the close by Tongass National Forest.
