Roseau is the most likely place your cruise liner will dock to allow passengers to enjoy a shore excursion of the island of Dominica. The cruise terminal is right in the centre of town, just steps from shops and restaurants, as well as Roseau’s famous fruit and vegetable market and arts and craft stalls.
Passengers can also walk to the Dominical Botanical Gardens from the port and Roseau Museum is worth a visit. In Portsmouth, which is on the other side of the island, there are several sandy white beaches and this is where the Cabrits National Park can be found. Cruise passengers can hire jeeps for getting around the island, or take a guided tour of the sights.
Hiking in the island’s rainforests or taking a ‘River Tubing Safari’ are other options for things to do around Roseau. Scuba diving is another popular choice for a shore excursion.
