Copenhagen has two main ports – Langelinie Pier is around one km from the city centre, and for passengers just stopping off for a shore excursion this is most likely the port they will dock at.
Passengers can easily walk to the famous Little Mermaid statue from the pier as well as Amalienborg Palace (home to the Danish royal family). Once in the city there is plenty to see on foot including Town Hall Square, the Tivoli Gardens and Rauspladsen. Also high on the list of sights to visit are a trip to the New Carlsberg Museum, Christiansborg Palace, the Danish Royal Theatre and Rosenborg Castle.
The Royal Museum of Fine Arts is the biggest museum in Denmark featuring works dating back as far as the 13th century. The Hans Christian Andersen Museum –monument to Denmark’s famous fairy tale writer, features many fascinating original artefacts along with books and private letters.
