Christchurch shore excursions

Lyttleton Port is the gateway for passengers who wish to take an organised shore excursion to Christchurch, New Zealand.

The city is situated around eight miles from the port – a journey of around 20 minutes. Christchurch is the largest city in New Zealand’s South Island yet still easy to explore on foot.

It is bursting with attractions such as the Canterbury Musuem, Christ’s College School and Christchurch Cathedral. The area around New Brighton Pier offers restaurants and cafes, while a punt down the Avon River and a ride on an historic tram is highly recommended.

Christchurch Botanic Gardens and Christchurch Art Gallery are other highlights. Cruise passengers can also take a look around nearby Lyttleton via a shuttle which drops off and picks up at Lyttleton Visitor Centre. From here passengers can take a bus into Christchurch if they have not pre-booked an excrusion.
