Cherbourg shore excursions

eGuide selected hotels

The Port of Cherbourg, France, is a transatlantic cruise terminal with a restaurant, bar, tourist information office and souvenir shop. Cruise liners dock at the Quay de France and passengers can take a number of interesting shore excursions including a trip into Cherbourg via a shuttle bus.

Cherbourg is a fascinating historic town, gateway to Normandy, and passengers can enjoy a stroll around the old town with its narrow cobblestone streets and many bars and restaurants.

If time permits passengers are recommended a guided tour taking in nearby Bayeux, home to the famous Bayeux Tapestry, located just to the West of Cherbourg.

The Cap de la Hague is another highlight on a day out – to reach it passengers will take a scenic coastal route via some of the highest cliffs in Europe. The Normandy beaches worth seeing, plus the historic Gare Maritime, and its Cite de Mer exhibits.
