Port Canaveral in Florida is a favourite port of call for cruises stopping at Disney World since it is the closest to the theme park and only 45 miles drive east of the port.
If your cruise ship is docking for more than eight hours there will be plenty of time for a tour of Universal Studios Orlando Theme Park, Universal’s Islands of Advernture, Sea World Orlando and of course, Walt Disney World Resort.
Those who are on limited time can stay closer to home - the Southside terminal has direct access to a beach, shops and fishing facilities.
The port is also right next door to Cape Canaveral Kennedy Space Centre where passengers can meet and talk to real astronauts. The centre is located on Merritt Island where there are plenty of other attractions including Canaveral National Seashore and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge (owned by NASA).
