Piraeus is the nearest port to Athens, Greece’s famous historical and cultural capital city, with the port being less than 30 minutes from the centre. ‘Must see’ attractions on a tour of the city include a climb to the top of the Acropolis where visitors will also find the famous temple, the Parthenon.

The Olympic Stadium is also recommended a visit, as well as the ancient market area known as the Plaka which features a bustling flea market as well as many shops and restaurants. Passengers can also take in a relaxing lunch at one of the many Greek tavernas located here for a real taste of Greek culture – and, as well as the delicious Greek food on offer, entertainment often features lively Greek music and dancing. The National Archaeological Museum and Syntagma Square – home to the Greek Parliament buildings - are other Athens highlights.
If you have a day to spare then Delphi makes for a good trip and involves a drives into the mountains behind Athens.
